Dementieva, the tournament's No. 1 seed, defeated sixth-seeded Sybille Bammer 6-1, 6-3 and Kleybanova advanced with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Ayumi Morita.
Dementieva hasn't lost more than three games in any set this week, a trend she continued Saturday despite taking nearly two hours to complete the straight-set win. She was in control throughout, however, dropping serve just once and winning 59 percent of the points in the match.
Kleybanova was coming off consecutive three-set matches so probably welcomed the relatively short 77-minute outing against Morita. Kleybanova fired 11 aces and didn't drop serve in the semifinals.
Sunday's title match will be the first career meeting between Dementieva and Kleybanova. Dementieva, No. 7 in the world, is looking for her third championship of the year and 17th of her career. Kleybanova is in her first WTA final.
The Malaysian Open is worth $37,000 while the runner-up will take home $19,000. Bammer and Morita each received $10,200 for making the semifinals.
