The halftime score was deadlocked at 34, but despite a determined effort, Marquette faced a 62-47 deficit on a jumper by Arinze Onuaku with 8:34 left and could not grab the lead.

Kris Joseph scored 14 with 11 rebounds, Rick Jackson 12 with seven blocked shots and Onuaku 12 points and five rebounds for the Orange (19-1, 6-1), who have won six in a row.

They were helped by a whopping 43-21 rebounding advantage and the Eagles' 38 percent shooting.

Darius Johnson-Odom led Marquette with 17 points. Lazar Hayward scored 16 with eight rebounds, Jimmy Butler added 13 points and Maurice Acker scored 12 with six assists for the Eagles (11-8, 2-5), whose five conference losses are by a combined 11 points.
