Bondarenko wins second career title

Hobart, Australia -- Alona Bondarenko won the second singles title of her career Saturday, defeating Shahar Peer to capture the Hobart International.

Bondarenko, seeded fourth, earned a 6-2, 6-4 decision over the second-seeded Peer. Bondarenko also won in Luxembourg in 2006, which was her second full year on the tour.

She will be seeded 31st at next week's Australian Open and will meet an as-yet undetermined qualifier in the opening round.

Bondarenko has not made it past the third round in any of her 20 singles appearances in major championships. She did win an Australian Open doubles title in 2007 with her sister Kateryna.
