COL BKB: Arizona State 68, Washington 51

Tempe, Ariz. -- Rihards Kuksiks scored 27 points Friday and Arizona State went to the foul line 38 times in defeating No. 22 Washington 68-51.

Kuksiks made five 3-point shots in helping the Sun Devils dominate the second half.

Washington lost its second in a row, leaving both the Huskies and Sun Devils at 1-2 early in the Pacific-10 Conference race.

Arizona State shot better from 3-point range (8-of-17) than it did from inside the arc (7-of-23) and even though the Sun Devils posted only a 37 percent shooting average from the field overall, they held Washington to 32 percent.

Arizona State was successful on 30 of its 38 trips to the line.

Ty Abbott added 17 points for Arizona State (11-5). Washington (10-4) was led by Isaiah Thomas with 20 points.
