Carey, Urban win People's Choice awards

Keith Urban won the prize for favorite male artist.

"Thank you to just everybody that voted for this; I really appreciate it and everybody watching at home, too," he said. "This means everything to me."

Taylor Swift earned the gong for favorite female artist.

"What a beautiful, beautiful way to start out a new decade. Thank you so much," Swift said.

Carrie Underwood was named favorite country artist.
