Blake had his serve broken just once in 15 games in the 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Querrey, who was seeded fifth. Blake won 54 percent of the points but service breaks in each set proved to be the difference in the tight match.

Third-seeded Gael Monfils and No. 4-seeded Tomas Berdych played more to form with wins Tuesday. Monfils was pushed to a third set but never dropped serve in a 7-6 (7-1), 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 win over Taylor Dent and Berdych breezed by Nick Lindahl 6-2, 6-4.
