Producer Chopra tells reporter 'shut up'

Noida, India -- Film producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra told a reporter to shut up at a news conference in Noida, India, Friday after the journalist asked about reports of plagiarism.

The Indo-Asian News Service reported Chopra made the comment after a reporter asked if his hit movie "3 Idiots" was based without permission on Chetan Bhagat's book "Five Point Someone."

Bhagat reportedly has claimed 70 percent of "3 Idiots" was taken from his book.

After Chopra asked the reporter who brought up the allegation if he had closely examined both works, the journalist admitted he had watched the film, but not read the book, the Indo-Asian News Service said.

"Then you shut up. When you have not read the book, then how can you say that the movie is 70 percent of the book?" Chopra said.
