Ex-Aerosmith singer Tyler gets new manager

New York -- Steven Tyler, former lead singer of the U.S. band Aerosmith, has signed with a new manager, Rolling Stone magazine reports.

The music industry publication reported Friday that Tyler, 61, hired Allen Kovac of 10th Street Entertainment less than a year after the singer signed on with the Union Entertainment Group's John Greenberg and Jason Flom.

Tyler's former Aerosmith band members had been less than pleased with Tyler's initial decision to part ways with the band's manager, Trudy Green, and sign with Union Entertainment. Tyler subsequently quit the band altogether.

Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford told Rolling Stone Tyler had been threatening to get his own manager for years.

"It was always put in the context of a threat which was not understandable on my part," said Whitford, whose band is looking for a new lead singer after Tyler announced he was splitting from the "Sweet Emotion" group.
