The Chargers started their December victory streak with a 24-21 win at Buffalo on Dec. 3, 2006. The Chargers (9-3) also have won their last seven in a row.
San Diego is led by AFC passing leader Phillip Rivers, who has 1,066 yards with seven touchdowns and no interceptions over the last four games.
The Chargers lead Denver by one game atop the AFC West Division, and a win over the Cowboys (8-5) could clinch a playoff berth for the three-time defending AFC West champions.
"If you asked every guy, I think as people you can't deny this is big," Rivers told The San Diego Union-Tribune this week. "(But) I don't think we're caught up into that."
Another motivating factor could be that Coach Norv Turner, the Cowboys' former offensive coordinator, has never led lost in December in his current job.
