About 3,700 sweatshirts were imported from China by Allura Imports Inc., of New York, and sold at Burlington Coat Factory outlets from October 2008 through July 2009 for about $11.
The sweatshirts include a drawstring that increase the risk of strangulation, the commission said.
The sweatshirts involved in the recall are velour and have a zippered front. They were sold as part of a 2-piece ensemble. They have "Major Diva" printed on the front. They were sold in pink, ivory and khaki.
Consumers were advised to remove the drawstring or return the sweatshirts to the retailer for a full refund.
