NHL: Detroit 4, Dallas 1

Detroit -- Darren Helm put Detroit ahead early in the second period Monday and the Red Wings went on to defeat the Dallas Stars 4-1.

Detroit -- Darren Helm put Detroit ahead early in the second period Monday and the Red Wings went on to defeat the Dallas Stars 4-1.

Helm was assisted by Todd Bertuzzi, who also scored a goal.

Detroit's other two goals were recorded by Drew Miller and Dan Cleary.

Winning goalie Jimmy Howard turned back 29 shots.

Brenden Morrow got the Dallas goal and Marty Turco finished with 28 saves.
