Security camera catches ATM theft attempt

Boulder -- A man using a rental truck and a chain to dislodge an automated-teller machine in Colorado appears in four photos taken by a security camera, police said.

Boulder police released the photos of the failed larceny attempt Friday and offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and charges against a suspect, The Denver Post reported.

The photos show the man backing up the truck to a Chase Bank ATM at 2 a.m. Wednesday, fastening a chain to the machine and dragging it about 15 to 20 feet.

That tripped an audible alarm, and the would-be thief took off without any cash, police said.

The rental truck, which had been stolen, was recovered nearby, police said.
