The 38-year-old son of Colts President Bill Polian signed an undisclosed, long-term contract and will oversee the team's day-to-day operations.
"Chris has been involved in every aspect of our football operations for the past 12 years," team owner Jim Irsay said. "His direct contributions are part of the reasons why the Colts have been among the league's top teams for an extended period of time."
Before joining the Colts in 1998, Chris Polian worked for Carolina for four years.
With Indianapolis, he was director of pro scouting, assistant director of football operations, and assistant general manager/football operations before he rose to vice president of football operations in 2004.
"(The) continuity is important to me," Irsay told the Indianapolis Star. "I was willing to make a financial commitment to keep Chris off the market."
