The crop's five-year average the harvest for this week of the year is 94 percent done, the department said Monday.
The nation's soybean harvest is 94 percent complete and only 3 percentage points behind its five-year average. The sunflower crop is 80 percent harvested, against an historic average of 93 percent for this time of year.
Cotton is 72 percent harvested, compared with an historic average of 75 percent for this week of November.
Eighty-eight percent of the peanut crop is harvested. By this time of year, 96 percent of the harvest is completed, based on a five-year average.
Going in the other direction, the 18 largest winter wheat producing states report 93 percent of the year's planting is done, compared with an historic average of 97 percent. Eighty-four percent of the crop has emerged, while 92 percent of the crop is in fair to excellent condition, the USDA said.
