Chicago-based Harpo Productions Inc. said Winfrey intends to announce her plans to end "The Oprah Winfrey Show," which reaches about 7 million viewers a day, on Friday's edition of the program, WABC-TV, New York, reported.
The New York Times said Winfrey is ending her show so she can focus on her forthcoming cable channel, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.
Winfrey began her broadcasting career in Nashville, Tenn., and worked in Baltimore before moving to Chicago to host WLS-TV's morning talk show, "A.M. Chicago."
In September 1986, the show was renamed "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The next year, Winfrey's show went into syndication.
