Grain futures close mixed

Chicago -- Grain futures closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday as equities dropped and oil prices fell due to concerns of slow demand.

Corn was off 2 to off 3, soybeans were up 10 3/4 to up 12, wheat was off 3 3/4 to off 4 and oats were unchanged.

Corn futures fell with downward pressure provided by lower crude oil prices.

Wheat prices fell moderately with weekly export figures in line with expectations. China's purchase of 116,000 metric tons of soybeans put the week's total at 725,000 metric tons.

The prices:
Corn: Dec 3.95, off 3; Mar 4.10 3/4, off 3; May 4.20 1/2, off 3; Jul 4.28 3/4, off 2.

Soybeans: Jan 10.39, up 12; Mar 10.44 3/4, up 11 1/2; May 10.46 1/4, up 11; Jul 10.50, up 10 3/4.
