Saturday's confrontation between the two was their sixth this season and 20th overall with Nadal holding a 14-6 lifetime advantage.
Djokovic, the No. 3 seed, rose to a men's best 75-18 record, winning 83 percent of his first-serve points and hitting 31 winners.
He captured the first set by winning four straight games from 2-2.
Nadal, the second seed, lost seven straight games, fell behind 2-0 in the second, and the match was history.
"There's not much to say about today's performance,
except it was perfect," Djokovic said. "(I planned it before the match and was very aggressive)."
Also Saturday, Frenchman Gael Monfils, the 15th seed, topped No. 13 Radek Stepankek of the Czech Republic 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
Sunday's Djokovic-Monfils winner earns $675,000.
