Djokovic, ranked third in the world, will now face Czech Jan Hernych at the Basel, Switzerland, event.
Also in Basel, Swiss crowd favorite, wild card Marco Chiudinelli, defeated eighth-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 7-5, while Finn Jarkko Nieminen bounced France's Julien Benneteau 7-5, 6-2.
Other Day 2 winners at the Swiss Indoors included Hernych, Serbian Viktor Troicki, Russian qualifier Evgeny Korolev and Swiss qualifier Michael Lammer.
Anticipation was already building for Wednesday's match between Basel favorite son Roger Federer, the world's top-ranker player, and his second-round opponent, Italian Andreas Seppi. It will be the all-time men's Grand Slam king's first tennis since losing in the U.S. Open final in September.
