NHL: Minnesota 3, Colorado 2 (SO)

St Paul, Oct. 21 -- Mikko Koivu scored the tying goal with 4:51 left in regulation Wednesday and then produced the only shootout tally to give Minnesota a 3-2 win over Colorado.

Minnesota halted a five-game losing streak, winning for just the second time this season.

Darcy Tucker and Kyle Quincey delivered second-period goals that gave the Avalanche a 2-1 advantage going into the final stanza. With Wojtek Wolski serving a two-minute penalty for delay of game, Koivu put a slapshot past Craig Anderson to tie the score.

Koivu then scored in the opening round of the shootout and the Wild went on to hand Colorado its first loss in five games.

Niklas Backstrom made 33 saves in regulation and overtime before turning away all three Colorado shootout attempts.
