Four seeds fall at women's Kremlin Open

Russian Maria Kirilenko dropped Radwanska 6-3, 6-3 in a first-round meeting and Petrova fell to Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in a second-round contest.

The loss eliminated Radwanska from contention for the WTA Tour season-ending event in Doha.

Fourth-seeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy retired due to a left-knee injury during the second set in her match against Hungarian Agnes Szavay, with the score 4-6, 3-0. Sixth-seeded Elena Vesnina of Russia was upset by fellow countrywoman Evgeniya Rodina 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

Eighth-seeded Francesca Schiavone of Italy beat Spanish qualifier Nuria Llagostera Vives 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-3.
