MTV U.K. introducing new youth channel

LONDON, Oct. 17 -- MTV said young people throughout the United Kingdom will soon be able to enjoy "The Hills" and "South Park" on its new youth channel, called Viva.

The Hollywood Reporter said it was officially announced Friday that Viva will be broadcast starting Oct. 26 by British Sky Broadcasting, the digital platform Freeview and cable operator Virgin Media.

MTV Director of Television Heather Jones said the new United Kingdom entertainment channel is not very similar to its predecessor, the 7-year-old music station The Music Factory.

In addition to offering TV series like "Hills," "Park" and "Two and a Half Men," Viva will provide top U.K. music hits from artists like Lady Gaga and Kelly Rowland.

Viva has previously broadcast in localized versions in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Switzerland.
