Dent wins third-set tiebreaker in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- Taylor Dent and Marcos Baghdatis both survived third-set tiebreakers Monday in first-round wins at the $947,750 Malaysian Open tennis tournament.

Dent rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win over Andrey Golubev despite eight double faults. Half of those came in the third set but he still earned a
second-round match against top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko.

Baghdatis needed 2 hours, 49 minutes to get by Yen-Hsun Le 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in the strength of 17 aces. He had seven aces in the third set.

In the other first-round match played Monday, Brendan Evans topped Michael 6-3, 6-4. Evans didn't face a break point in the battle between two American qualifiers.
