MLB: N.Y. Mets 4, Florida 0

Miami, Sept. 27: Patrick Misch hurled a complete game, eight-hit shutout Sunday, leading the New York Mets to a 4-0 win over the Florida Marlins.

It was his first complete game.

Misch (2-4) avoided the big inning by inducing 15 ground ball outs and three double plays in 110 pitches.

One of two hits by New York's Jeff Francoeur was a two-run third-inning homer.
Anderson Hernandez hit a solo homer in the fifth.

Josh Thole hit a sacrifice fly and Wilson Valdez had three hits for the Mets, whose two victories in the three-game series dealt a severe blow to Florida's National League wild-card chances.

Cameron Maybin and Chris Coghlan had two hits apiece for the Marlins, who have split their last four games.

They trail Colorado by four games in the wild-card chase.
The losing pitcher was starter Chris Volstad (9-13).
