Mavs' Thomas has knee surgery

Dallas -- Recently acquired Dallas Mavericks forward Tim Thomas had arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee Tuesday.

It wasn't clear when Thomas would be able to resume play.

Dr. T.O. Souryal, the NBA club's team physician, performed the procedure at Texas
Sports Medicine.

Thomas signed with Dallas in the off-season and injured himself while working out in his Southern California home.

The 6-foot-10 journeyman has averaged 11.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 806 regular-season games over 12 seasons with New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, Phoenix and Los
Angeles Clippers. He averaged 13.3 points and 5.1 boards in seven playoff runs.
