MLB: San Francisco 10, Colorado 2

San Francisco, Sept. 16: Barry Zito turned in a solid seven innings while four Giants chipped in two RBI apiece in San Francisco's 10-2 drubbing of Colorado Tuesday.

Zito (10-12) gave up two runs on five hits and struck out nine to pull the Giants to within two games of Colorado in the National League wild-card chase.

Juan Uribe, Travis Ishikawa, Bengie Molina and Aaron Rowand each had two RBI as the Giants outhit the Rockies 10-5.

Ubaldo Jimenez (13-11) took the loss for only the second time in his past dozen starts. He lasted 2 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs -- six earned -- on six hits.

Troy Tulowitzki homered for the Rockies, who have lost four consecutive games.
San Francisco was off and running early with three runs in the first inning with the help of a fielding error by third baseman Garrett Atkins on what should have been a double play.

Colorado picked up a run in the top of the third to make it 3-1, but the Giants responded with four in the bottom half to make it 7-1.
