MLB: Florida 2, St. Louis 1

St.Louis, Sept. 15 Dan Uggla hit a two-run homer Tuesday to give the Florida Marlins a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Winning pitcher Sean West (7-5) gave up one run on six hits with three walks and nine strikeouts over six innings. Nick Johnson scored the other run for the Marlins.

Florida remains seven games behind Philadelphia for first-place in the NL East with 18 games to play. The Marlins are five games behind Colorado for the league's wild card.

Albert Pujols drove in the lone run for St. Louis. Adam Wainwright (18-8) took the loss after giving up two runs on seven hits with a walk and eight strikeouts over seven innings.

The Cardinals, who have lost four of their last five games, hold an 8 1/2 game lead over Chicago for first place in the NL Central.
