MLB: San Francisco 3, Milwaukee 2

Milwaukee, Sept. 5: Bengie Molina hit an eighth-inning solo homer to give San Francisco the lead Friday and the Giants held on to edge Milwaukee 3-2.

San Francisco, which began the night trailing Colorado by a game in the National League wild-card race, managed only four hits and faced an early 2-0 deficit, but came back to pick up the crucial victory.

The Giants got a big break in the sixth with runners on first and second and two away when Mike Cameron botched a fly ball to center. That allowed Edgar Renteria to score, and Aaron Rowand then delivered a single that brought in Juan Uribe from third.

Molina's game-winning homer came on the first pitch of the eighth inning from Todd Coffey (4-4).

The win went to Brandon Medders (4-1), who worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Barry Zito. Brian Wilson worked around a one-out single in the ninth for his 33rd save.
