Federer captures his 61st ATP title

Mason, Ohio -- World No. 1 Roger Federer downed Novak Djokovic in the championship match of the Cincinnati Masters Sunday -- the Swiss star's 61st title on the ATP Tour.

Mason, Ohio -- World No. 1 Roger Federer downed Novak Djokovic in the championship match of the Cincinnati Masters Sunday -- the Swiss star's 61st title on the ATP Tour.

Federer jumped to a quick early lead and went on to defeat the Serbian 6-1, 7-5.

The win was Federer's 16th in a Masters event, fourth this year and third in the Cincinnati tournament, which he also won in 2005 and 2007.

Next up for Federer is the U.S. Open, beginning Aug. 31 at Flushing Meadows in New York. Federer, winner of the French Open and Wimbledon this season, will be trying
for his 16th Grand Slam title.

Federer ran up a 4-0 first-set lead en route to his win over Djokovic.

"A good start always helps," he said. "That was the case today."
Federer won $443,500.
