Twins put Liriano on DL

Arlington, Texas -- The Minnesota Twins put left-hander Francisco Liriano on the 15-day disabled list because of fatigue in his throwing arm after he got roughed up by Texas.

Liriano gave up seven runs in just two innings Monday night, dropping his record to 5-12 with a 5.80 earned-run average in 23 starts.

After starting out 12-3 as a rookie in 2006, he had Tommy John surgery and missed the 2007 season. He was 6-4 in 2008, offering hope for a solid 2009 season.

The Twins are bringing up Philip Humber from Class AAA Rochester to fill Liriano's roster spot. Humber was 7-7 with a 5.28 ERA in 21 games for Rochester.

Humber, primarily a starter, appeared in four games out of the Twins bullpen early this season. He did not record a decision and produced a 12.46 ERA.
