MLB: Chicago White Sox 6, LA Angels 2

The Angels have lost back-to-back games for the first time since July 7-8. Those setbacks were against Texas, which comes to Anaheim Friday for a weekend series.

Thome tied it at 1-1 with a homer in the fourth and gave the White Sox a 5-1 cushion with his key blast in the sixth. The White Sox, winners of five out of six, remained a game behind Detroit in the battle for the American League Central lead.

Gavin Floyd (9-6) allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits in eight-plus innings to get the win. He has not lost in any of his last five starts.

Sean O'Sullivan (3-1) absorbed the loss after giving up four runs on six hits in five innings.

The Angels had won five in a row before losing the two straight to Chicago.
