MLB: Philadelphia 5, San Francisco 1

San Francisco, Aug. 1: Cliff Lee made a spectacular Philadelphia debut Friday, throwing a four-hit complete game in the Phillies' 5-1 win over San Francisco.

Lee (8-9), winner of last year's American League Cy Young Award, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and went the distance for the fourth time this season.

He was obtained from Cleveland, along with outfielder Ben Francisco, before the trade deadline in exchange for four minor-leaguers.

Lee faced the minimum number of batters through five innings, but gave up a one-out double to Juan Uribe in the sixth. San Francisco managed a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Uribe.

The Phillies, who lead the National League East by six games over Florida, had lost their previous two contests.

Jayson Werth hit a solo homer in the second and the score remained 1-0 until the Phillies produced three runs in the seventh -- two of them coming in on a single by Werth.

San Francisco had a four-game winning streak snapped.
