MLB: LA Dodgers 5, St. Louis 3

The Dodgers halted a season-worst, four-game losing streak.

Los Angeles took a 3-2 lead in the seventh on a two-run double by Rafael Furcal, but the Cardinals tied it in the bottom of the inning on a homer by Rick Ankiel.

Ankiel, however, struck out with the bases loaded in the eighth to end a St. Louis threat.

Ryan Franklin began his second inning of work in the 10th, but was relieved by Dennys Reyes with nobody on and one out.

Reyes (0-2) promptly walked Andre Ethier and Casey Blake followed with a single.

After James Loney struck out swinging, Todd Wellemeyer relieved Reyes and surrendered the two-run single to Kemp.

James McDonald (3-2) worked a perfect bottom of the ninth to get the win.

Jonathan Broxton worked around a leadoff walk in the 10th to collect his 24th save.

It was the second straight extra inning game for the Cardinals and Dodgers. St. Louis won a 15-inning affair Wednesday.

The Cardinals, who had won three in a row, slipped back into a first-place tie with the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.
