MLB: St. Louis 10, Los Angeles Dodgers 0

St. Louis, July 29: Adam Wainwright struck out five and held the Los Angeles Dodgers scoreless over eight innings in St. Louis's 10-0 romp Tuesday.

Wainwright (12-6) allowed eight hits and one walk en route to the victory, which gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the four-game set between the leaders of the National League Central and West.

Mark DeRosa had a three-run homer for St. Louis, and Ryan Ludwick and Yadier Molina each drove in a pair.

Los Angeles outhit the Cards 9-8 but stranded all nine runners.

St. Louis scored six times in the sixth inning to blow open a fine pitching duel between Wainwright and Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley (10-6), who was tagged for six runs on four hits and walked six in 5 2/3 innings.

After walking the bases loaded to open the sixth, Billingsley gave up Ludwick's two-run single and then a two-run single to Molina. Skip Schumacher then drove in two with a single off Claudio Vargas in his second at-bat in the inning.

DeRosa's three-run blast in the eighth closed out the scoring.
