MLB: Arizona 6, Colorado 5

Denver, July 22: Miguel Montero's two-run homer in the top of the eighth provided the decisive runs in Arizona's 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies Tuesday.

Montero broke a 4-4 tie with a shot to deep center field off Juan Rincon (2-1) after Mark Reynolds had singled.

The Rockies struck back with a run in the bottom of the eighth on a two-out pinch-hit triple by Ryan Spilborghs, but Chad Qualls came in from the bullpen to record the final out.

Juan Gutierrez (2-2) pitched a scoreless seventh for the win, although he walked two batters.

Colorado took a 3-0 lead in the second on a lead-off home run by Troy Tulowitzki, an RBI single by Dexter Fowler and a wild pitch that scored Ian Stewart from third.

Arizona scored a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth on a triple by Justin Upton. They tied the score 4-4 in the seventh on a bases-loaded single by Stephen Drew, who was 4-for-4 in the game.
