San Diego, July 19: Colorado's Jason Marquis became major league baseball's first 12-game winner of the season Sunday in a 6-1 Rockies win over the San Diego Padres.

Marquis (12-6) worked eight innings, allowing a run and five hits. He also drove in two runs with a double.

Brad Hawpe and Ian Stewart each belted a solo home run for Colorado, which has won eight of its last 11 contests.

Kevin Kouzmanoff produced a sacrifice fly to score a run in San Diego's 13th loss in 16 games this month.

Loser Mat Latos (0-1) yielded two runs and three hits over four innings in his major league debut.
