MLB: Philadelphia at Florida, ppd., rain

Miami, July 18: Saturday's contest between the Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies was postponed by rain.

Right fielder Jeremy Hermida had given Florida a 2-0 lead with a two-run double in the bottom of the first, but the rain returned following an earlier 90-minute rain delay at Miami's Land Shark Stadium and the game was called.

A makeup date has not been announced, but the Phillies are scheduled to return to Miami for two games Sept. 22-23.

Philadelphia will try to extend its seven-game winning streak Sunday in the finale of the scheduled three-game series.

The Marlins held a ground-breaking ceremony Saturday for a new ball park with a retractable roof, set to open in the 2012 season. The unnamed facility also will include a pool, a porch and a plaza.

"'We want to be the most visually exciting ballpark in the United States,'' Marlins President David Samson told The Miami Herald.
