MLB: Colorado 3, Los Angeles Dodgers 0

Los Angeles, July 1: Jason Marquis pitched a two-hit shutout Tuesday to carry the Colorado Rockies past the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0.

Marquis (10-5) struck out three batters and walked none in an 86-pitch gem that made him the first 10-game winner in the National League this season.

"That was something special," said Rockies Manager Jim Tracy. "Marquis pounded the strike zone with his fastball and had command with everything he threw."

Marquis surrendered a single to James Loney in the second inning and then set down the next 19 Dodgers, the majority of them on ground outs, before allowing a two-out single to Juan Castro.

Marquis chipped in with a two-run single, as well, as the Rockies rolled to their 21st win in their last 25 games. Brad Hawpe added the other run for Colorado with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
