MLB: Tampa Bay 7, Philadelphia 1

St. Petersburg, Fla. June 24: Pat Burrell drove in three runs Wednesday, two of them with a second-inning homer, and Tampa Bay pulled away late for a 7-1 win over Philadelphia.

The teams have split the first two games of their rematch of the 2008 World Series.

Burrell's homer was only his second of the season following a lengthy stay on the disabled list with a neck injury.

The two-run blast was the only damage the Rays could do against Philadelphia starter Joe Blanton (4-4), but they piled on five runs in the eighth against two relievers.

Burrell drove in the first run in the eighth with a fielder's choice grounder, after which Jason Bartlett had a two-run single and Gabe Gross delivered a two-run double.

Matt Garza (5-5) earned the win by allowing a run on three hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings. He won for the first time since May 16.

Tampa Bay management had publicly complained about the poor advance ticket sales for the World Series rematch and Wednesday's game drew an announced crowd of 18,862.
