MLB: Pittsburgh 10, Cleveland 6

Pittsburgh, June 24: Adam LaRoche drove in three runs in helping Pittsburgh build a big lead Wednesday and the Pirates survived a ninth-inning meltdown to defeat Cleveland 10-6.

Pittsburgh took a 10-1 advantage into the ninth before Kelly Shoppach hit a two-run homer and Grady Sizemore produced a three-run blast.

The Pirates pounded out 14 hits, with LaRoche contributing three of them. He had a two-run single in the fourth and a solo homer in the sixth, his 11th of the year.

Jason Jarmamillo added a two-run homer to finish off Pittsburgh's six-run fourth inning. The Pirates halted a five-game losing streak.

Zach Duke (8-5) gave up a run on five hits over six innings for his third win in four decisions. He also had an RBI single in the second to give the Pirates their first run.

Carl Pavano (6-6) was blasted for 11 hits and eight runs over 3 2/3 inning. Just three of the runs were earned.
