MLB: Oakland 6, San Diego 3

San Diego, June 21: Kurt Suzuki's seventh-inning RBI single Saturday helped the Oakland Athletics record a 6-3 inter-league win over the San Diego Padres.

Suzuki's only hit of the game snapped a 3-3 tie with two outs in the top of the inning. Oakland's Adam Kennedy had four hits -- one a solo homer in the sixth -- to go with two RBI and three runs scored.

Ryan Sweeney and Jack Cust had two hits and one RBI apiece for the Athletics, who can complete a three-game sweep with a win Sunday.

Michael Wuertz (4-1) got the victory and Andrew Bailey, the last of four Oakland pitchers, earned his eighth save.

San Diego's Tony Gwynn Jr. and Everth Cabrera both had two hits and one RBI. David Eckstein's only hit of the game was a third-inning RBI single for the Padres, who have lost seven of eight.

The losing pitcher was reliever Cla Meredith (4-1).

The starters, Oakland's Brett Anderson and San Diego's Walter Silva, both yielded three runs.
