Kansas City, Mo. June 19: Ryan Ludwick highlighted a six-run third inning with a grand slam homer Friday, igniting the St. Louis Cardinals to a 10-5 inter-league win over Kansas City.

Colby Rasmus had four of the 14 St. Louis hits, scored twice and also had two RBI. The Cardinals won for the third time in four games.

It was a 1-1 tie going into the third, but Kyle Davies (3-7) gave up two singles and an intentional walk to load the bases before Ludwick hit his homer to left. Both Rick Ankiel and Khalil Greene hit solo home runs later in the inning.

Greene was making his first start at third base since coming off the disabled list. He had been put on the DL suffering from a social anxiety disorder.

Winner Brad Thompson (2-2) went seven innings while giving up five hits and four runs. He had allowed three runs or less in his first three starts since being inserted into the rotation.

Kyle Davies (3-7) coughed up nine hits and eight runs in just 2 2/3 innings.
