In a campaign to keep the streets' sidewalks cleared of dogs' feces, Krakow Mayor Jacek Majchrowski has formed a task force to tackle the problem of removing about 13,200 pounds of dogs' poop every day.
The mayor's campaign added 100 special collecting trash bins to the already existing 400 bins, in addition to handing out free poop bags to dog owners, Poland's thenews.pl Web site said.
City officials say lazy dog owners, who repeatedly refuse to collect droppings, would be taken to court to face a fine of $1,540.
