MLB: Cincinnati 9, St. Louis 3

St. Louis -- Laynce Nix hit a solo homer in the first and a three-run blast in the eighth Wednesday, powering Cincinnati to a 9-3 decision over St. Louis.

Brandon Phillips also had a homer and three RBI, lifting the Reds to their second win in five games.

Johnny Cueto (5-3) benefited from a quick Cincinnati start to get the win, giving up seven hits and a run over 6 1/3 innings. It was his first victory in four starts.

St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse (4-4) left in the third inning due to a continuation of soreness in his right forearm. He was hit in the forearm by a pitch in his most recent outing, causing him to be pushed back twice in the rotation. He allowed two runs on four hits before departing.
