MLB: Houston 6, Pittsburgh 1

Pittsburgh -- Brian Moehler took a shutout into the ninth inning Friday and gave up seven hits in a complete-game effort that brought Houston a 6-1 win over Pittsburgh.

The Astros broke a seven-game losing streak and handed the Pirates their third straight setback.

Moehler (2-3) had allowed 24 runs in 26 innings this season before dominating the Pirates Friday. He struck out four while throwing 123 pitches in his first complete game in nine years. Moehler has gone the distance 11 times in his career.

The veteran of 13 major league seasons was supported by a 15-hit attack that included four RBI from rookie Edwin Maysonet, who made his major league debut Tuesday after being called up from Class AAA Round Rock.

Maysonet hit his first big league homer, a two-run shot in the fourth, and doubled in two more runs in the sixth.

Ross Ohlendorf (5-5) took the loss after giving up four earned runs on eight hits in five innings.
