MLB: LA Dodgers 5, NY Mets 3

Los Angeles -- Casey Blake's ninth home run of the season led the Los Angeles Dodgers past the New York Mets 5-3 Tuesday.

Chad Billingsley (6-1) picked up his league-leading sixth win with help from Jonathan Broxton, who worked a perfect ninth inning for his 10th save of the year.

Billingsley struck out seven batters and gave up three runs on four hits and five walks over 6 1/3 innings. He also had two hits and an RBI.

John Maine (3-3) lost for the first time in nearly a month. He gave up five runs – four earned – on eight hits and struck out three.

The loss was the third in a row for the Mets, who have cooled off since winning 11 of 13 games.

After the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the first on Orlando Hudson's RBI single, the Mets responded with a pair in the second on Maine's bases-loaded single.

The Mets added a run in the third on David Wright's RBI single, but the Dodgers kept it close when Billingsley singled in the fourth to drive Blake in from second to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Blake put Los Angeles ahead for good in the sixth with his homer to left after back-to-back singles by James Loney and Matt Kemp.
