Skinner knife sheaths recalled

Washington -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Skinner Knife Sheaths due to a product defect.

Washington -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Skinner Knife Sheaths due to a product defect.

About 10,000 knives and sheaths were given as promotional gifts between November 2008 and April 2009 for joining the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The knives and sheaths, made in China, were distributed by Browning of Morgan, Utah, and the Rocky Mountain Foundation of Missoula, Mont.
The sheaths, however, do not include a blade guard, which creates a hazard to consumers, the commission said.

The sheaths have patches with "Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation" stitched into them. The packaging has "Browning" printed on the side and include the model number 322087.

Consumers were advised to discard the sheaths immediately. The distributors will send new sheaths to consumers free of charge.
Consumers can call 800-637-0230 for information.
